Winning Re-purposed Projects

HELLO friends!

First, I find it very necessary to extend an apology for the time between now and our last post.  There is no good excuse for our lack of posting, however, I am puzzled by how fast the days go by lately?!

We hope all is forgiven …  and maybe this will help …

All of our stores tend to have a sales floor full of entertainment centers that no one uses any more once they move up to flat screen TVs.  You remember these:

Unfortunately the resale value on these fellas isn’t very high. But when I saw this re-purposing project, it changed my whole tune to these beasts of burden!

Re-purpose it into a KID’S KITCHEN:

OR re-purpose it into a LAUNDRY ORGANIZER:

how about a DOLL HOUSE or a DRESS UP station:

Seriously!!!  How brilliant are these?

Half Price Sales Are Here!

YAY! 

It’s finally here ….

The Stuff Etc semi-annual store wide Half Price Sales!

This Saturday, we invite you to our Cedar Rapids & Waterloo locations for an experience you’ll be quick to remember for a very long time.

Shopping for bargains are a thrill in themselves, but imagine getting a half-price bargain on your bargain?

Over the years, we’ve seen just about everything at a Half Price Sale….

Sprinting for carts, pulling hair over beanie babies (no lie), one woman checking out with 3 heaping carts of clothing, not to mention, people dropping trou in the aisles just to try on clothes.

We often have groups of girlfriends come from out of town and make a weekend of it just shopping all of our stores!

Last year, I received an email from a woman that shopped our sales and was proud to announce that everything she wore to work that Monday was purchased at our half price sale (everything except her underwear that is)!

Shopping a half price sale is an adventure to say the least, and if you’re not shopping it, then the people watching at it is!

All of our stores are filled to the brim with name brand clothing, the latest accessories, home decor, sporting goods, electronics, furniture, and so so so SO much more!

Every location has an entire stock that is completely different from the next …  there’s definitely something for everyone …

and no pushing or hair pulling will be necessary.

Memorial Day Weekend

Ahhh…. Memorial Day Weekend.  The official kickoff to SUMMER!

Doesn’t this picnic look heavenly?!

We tend to pack this three-day weekend full of BBQs, picnics, camping, friends, family and if we’re lucky, a whole lot of sunshine. And maybe even some awesome discount shopping (hint hint – sale at Stuff this weekend).

But it’s also a little more than that.

And this weekend we remember those we’ve loved and lost and those that serve.

Before It Was Stuff Etc…

Some of you die-hard Stuff lovers would remember this little blue gem on Keokuk St.  Just as our name said, we were strictly devoted to consigning and reselling just items for children.  We rented HALF of this building to start with, but we quickly outgrew the space and had to ask our neighbor if he would so kindly move out so we could have his half!  For almost 13 years we operated in this fashion, but our customers would often ask us if we would be willing to take other things.  In 1997, we moved to Pepperwood Plaza and changed our name to what you know today… “Stuff Etc”.  And the rest is history!

That means each Saturday in January a different Stuff Etc location will be hosting a “sale on steroids”. But beware, it can be addictive!!!

This morning I got a very welcomed message from a shopper that made it to the Iowa City Half Price Sale on Saturday (two days ago).  It went a little something like this…  “GAWD!  I love Stuff Etc! I had so much fun getting dressed this morning and have so many new, cute combinations to wear this week.  Someone complimented me when I got to work this morning and I proudly proclaimed, “I got all of this at Stuff Etc this weekend!  In fact, everything on me, except my underwear, is from Stuff!  Gotta love consignment!” ~ Diane from Iowa City
